Recently and out of the sudden this problem happened, I can not login to Windows Live Messenger on the PC (win2003)[i.e. just sit and spin forever and nothing ever happens],,,,but I am not getting any error code

I uninstalled Windows Live Messenger and reinstall it again same problem.

I uninstalled Windows Live Messenger, and install V7.5 same problem.

Please see below pic to get the idea what does it happen when I login

I do not have firewall installed yet

See the DEP as well below

I tried signing in to Web Messenger and see whether that succeeds, yes it did succeed

Date, time and time zone on the computer.

Use Windows Installer CleanUp Utility (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Secure-cleaning/Windows-Installer-CleanUp-Utility.shtml) to fully remove Live Messenger

Then install Windows Live Messenger (MSN Messenger) 8.5 Final (http://www.soft32.com/download_187295.html)

That's the extent of my knowledge on this one, as I don't use Messenger (being an oldie techie)

I used some registry cleaners and that fixed the problem.

Thanks for the update, was the registry cleaner in CCleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com/)

It was "CleanMyPC Registry Cleaner" program.

Not in the TechSpot list: http://www.techspot.com/downloadid17by4.html

Anyway, I downloaded it: http://www.registry-cleaner.net/
It says "evaluation Copy: 15 days left"
Well I only need it for one. (Lol)

Not sure if it removes any error yet, after the big scan. (do you have to have it registered?)

Edit:
Nope, it must be registered to fix entries

In the bin the program goes

Edit2:

It tried to call home to un-install too (poor thing)
I must remember to advise users not to purchase it too
.
