Hello Kimmy, and welcome to Techspot!
I hope this is very helpful for a start. You will have to get Belarc to find the rest drivers, such as Network drivers.

It could be nice if you tell us your system specification from Belarc, Belarc will tell you everything, and you can tell us everything regarding what Belarc says.

It might be eaiser to wipe the drive and start over with XP. I'm pretty sure there will be XP drivers for your machine because HP/Compaq didn't make the chipset, but you'd have a real expensive problem getting XP versions of all the software that came preinstalled on your machine, but the extra expense would all depend on if you even used any of the preinstalled software. If your machine had Office on it and you wanted to continue using that program you'd probably need to buy the XP version of Office. The simple truth is I don't know what software you had on the machine, and if you'd have to get a new version of Office to continue using Office.
I do know that most of the software that comes preinstalled on a computer can be easily replaced with freeware. Open Office is an excellent alternative to Office and is freeware.

Two Approaches
1. You could download a list of all the software and drivers for your machine from the hp support web site. Only problem, these are for the original Vista machine. But at least you now have a list of items to be addressed. For each, find the XP version from the mfr or hp would offer the driver download on one of their XP machines.
2. Use this info I found on HP web site: Changing the Operating System from Windows Vista to Windows XP (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01274160&lc=en&cc=us&lang=en&dlc=en&product=3628036)

Thanks for the help, think I have found the Ethernet driver now,
Hopefully when this is installed I'll just be able to update the remaining drivers through via the internet on the other machine.
