Windows Movie Maker

If I start Windows Movie Maker with moviemk.exe as soon as it loads I get the message "Has encountered a problem etc. etc. This is version 2.1.4026.0
I am using Win XP Pro SP2, all updates installed.
I tried copying the folder from another machine on which movie maker works and inserted it to the program folder, overwriting the existing one with the same result. I have tried deleting it but get the message that these are Windows files and as soon as they are deleted they re-install themselves.
Any suggestions please.
Thanks.
