How do you get rid of bitdefender 9 plus?

Question is in the title.
I went to add/remove programs and it doesn't show up there. I uninstalled all the things I didn't need and while I was doing that it asked me to undo the changes that the program had made, bitdefender. I hit yes and it undid what bitdefender had done, but I still can't figure out how to get rid of it. It still shows up when I right click an icon/folder and it shows that I can open it from there.

Also, does anyone know of any good anti-virus/security software that is free, or some that you can get quite cheap?

EDIT: the only reason I want to get rid of it is that it won't start anytime I try to start it, it tells me it closed b/c of something....

run the setup that came with the program and it should offer you the option of removing it.
