Save changes in Picasa

Hi!

I´m using Picasa 2.7 to organize my pictures, and I have some questions:

1. Above the thumbnails there is a button that says "Save Changes (n)" with n representing a number. What exactly does this button do? I understand that Picasa saves image changes to an .ini file. Will this button save changes to the original .jpg file? And what changes will it make, since it offers to save a lot of changes in all my directories?

2. If I rotate a picture and save a copy, is Picasa using lossless jpg-rotation?
