I am running a system that comprises: Asus A7N8X-X, Athlon XP2500+, 512Mb RAM (two 256s). OS is W2KPro.

This morning I booted up to find the BSOD, with accompanying message: STOP: 0X000000D1 (0X000001F3, 006, 8X00000000, 0X000001F3) DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

I haved added no new hardware, but the system has been pretty slow in boot up and shutdown.

If anyone has any ideas, I would be most grateful!

Bad hard disk, memory, BIOS and driver problems can cause this error.

Thanks very much Rick, it could well be the HDD since it is a pretty old one. The rest is brand new, so I would say it is now time to buy a new one. But I shall check it out with the info from the link you gave me first. Thank you for your help! Very much appreciated!

Well, I have run it through the suggested tests........ and there is nothing wrong with the HDD...... back to the drawing board, I think.

Do you have any memory you can swap out with what's in use right now?

Unfortunately not, looks as though I shall have to get some tho. Well: I was planning on buying some more at some point, so that will have to be sooner rather than later!
