According to Computerworld reporter Gregg Keizer, August 14, 2009 12:23 PM ET
IE8's skills at sniffing out malware sites improved by 17% since March, said Rick Moy, president of NSS Labs,
the firm that conducted the benchmarks. The testing was sponsored by Microsoft's security team. Can you smell Conflict of Interest? :(
you can review the original article for yourself (http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9136667/IE8_whips_rivals_in_blocking_malware_sites?source=CTWNLE_nlt_security_2009-08-14)

Can you smell Conflict of Interest?
not really no. if you have a product and want it tested, you take it to a third party for testing. Is NSS Labs owned by Microsoft or something? and IE8 they're product...who else would sponsor the testing?
so unless your making the accusation that NSS Labs are taking 'payola'...i dont see the conflict of interest. here is the study if anybody wants to review it.
