Renewing IP address problem

Two days ago or maybe three, my net was working perfectly fine for my laptop (using my sisters to post) but later on, when i uninstalled IE8 (Internet explorer) and rebooted my laptop, i can't seem to connect to the internet. It always stays on "Renewing ip address" for a while and i just wan my connection back. Any suggestions anyone? =( (off topic question) anyone know what keys on the keyboard to press to use nortons ghost restore thing when starting up windows without the norton disk? (I.E. http://gokulakrishnang.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/17.jpg?w=300 this screen) I have a windows xp inspiron e1505 P.S. My mom's and sisters computers/laptops are working fine, except for mine.
