i don't know if my drivers are up to date or not, playing this game titan quest and my computer keeps crashing, looked on some other forums and they said it might have something to do with my sound drivers but i have no clue how to find an updated driver

Is this the sound card that came with your computer? Please indicate the specifc make/model of your computer.

1) Is there also an onboard sound device? If yes, is it disabled in your BIOS?
2) Click Start->Run,enter: dxdiag. Click the Save all Information button. Look at the file to find what it says about Sound Devices. It should look something like what follows. Copy/paste the sound info into your next post

Ah-Ha! It IS the onboard soundcard
I did find what appears to be a newer driver for that device BUT before going there we should really see exactly what drivers are being offered by ASUS for your specific motherboard. These will be found on the ASUS website under Support.
If you don't know the motherboard model number use a tool like SIW. Run it and look at Hardware->Motherboard for the model number. You should then be able to find the latest drivers on the ASUS site. Or if you'd like me to take a look there myself please tell me the motherboard model reported by SIW

OOps.. And here's a link to download SIW (http://www.gtopala.com/siw-download.html)

i can still do that siw thing if you want

typo? ASUS only lists M2NPV-MX or a M2NPV-VM
Actually if you go to this link (http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us), you should be able to let them scan your board and they'll take you directly to the drivers for your m/b

Interesting.. it actually looks like the ASUS drivers are a slightly older version of what you have installed. But i'd say is worth trying to run with the drivers on the ASUS site (see if it makes any difference) even if they're down revisions.
> Make sure you double check if you;re running 32 or 64 bit XP to download the right one from the site

how do i check if i'm running a 32 or 64?
and which one do i download?
there seems to be two different ones in the audio section with 4 links on the top one and 2 on the bottom one
i see the 32/64 selections but some are different

Click for how to determine whether you are running 32 or 64 bit windows (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827218)
The links on top appear to be more recent (if only looking at their upload dates you'll find on the site)
Hope this might help. Tho if not, would be best you start a new thread so someone will take a look from the new starting point

you bet... one more point.. you should uninstall the old driver before installing the new one... You run dxdiag again to check on the driver version number installed. G'luck!
