How can i get a virus

I want to put a virus on my virtual computer so see wat virus protection is best but i dont know how to get one so i want to know can i download a virus???

There are safer ways to test your AV protection than trying to download a virus.
Any of the major AV protection companies should have a test you can run by downloading a small program from their site.
I would be extremely careful here.

This is harmless it just displays EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE! I've disassembled this and it contains a virus signature that is never executed.
