ArcServeIT

Is anyone using this? We have this at the office and had 3 of the 4 RAID 5 drives go bad at the same time. Thus, I am having to rebuild the server. When I install ArcSErverIT, and try to start it, I get a

"failed to start database engine (1053)"

error. I have tried MYSQL and the database that ARC provides with no luck. When I install their database, it prompts me for a username, "sa" and password, although I never put one in.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be? Please help!

The database engine is failing to start, so the database likely won't be accessible. ;)

For many systems, the sa password is... sa! Stupid, insecure, and annoyingly useful knowledge.

What operating system are you running on, and have you checked to be sure your prereq packages are installed??

well, Arc was a waste of time. It turned out that I didn't need the data on the tapes after all, since I was running a parallel network backup.

I just installed Veritas and away we go....thanks for the feedback and the sa password...that is a good bit of knowledge to have handy
