IBM plans to introduce some new midrange and high-end disk arrays (http://news.com.com/IBM+to+refresh+storage+lineup/2100-1015_3-5406328.html?part=rss&tag=5406328&subj=news.1015.5), the DS6000 and DS8000. These disk systems have a new, more simplistic design, which helps keep costs down. IBM has then passed those savings on to the consumer. This new equipment is also supposed to support IBM's new "virtualization" technology.
