win 2000 no multimedia controller

I have seen this problem everywhere. I can not find a solution for my laptop.
installed win 2000
laptop is a compusa amerinoteRL400D

I have no sound and cannot find a driver.

any help is good help.

You're out of luck. CompUSA sold off the product long ago and there are only win9x drivers for it. I downloaded the drivers for 9x from CompUSA and looking at the inf file it appears to be a Rockwell(now Conextant) PCI Audio and Modem chip(Riptide). you might try some generic drivers for that....
