Need help with onboard soundcard

i've got an HP pavilion 542x. it's decent but not the best, recently it had an identity crisis & i had to reinstall windows...i've got everything else back to the way it was except my sound...it's an onboard sound card, it uses the AC'97 codec...it's an Intel 845GLLYL motherboard that uses the 845gl chipset, i think the card is a yamaha but i'm not sure & i don't know exactly which one on the board it is. i can't find the drivers on the HP site or the Yamaha site. I've tried many other brands that make the AC'97 drivers: realtek, soundmax, etc, none of them work...I'm usually pretty good with comps so I can provide any info needed. Can anyone help? Thanks

I don't think there are too many Yamaha chips on the board, and the sound chip is usually located in the back, next to PCI/AGP busses or rear ports. A rectangular, small chip. Yamaha sound chips usually say something like "YMF744" or so on.

You can download the audio driver for your mobo HERE (http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df/filter_results.asp?strOSs=45&strTypes=BIO%2CDRV&ProductID=829&OSFullName=Windows*+XP+Home+Edition&submit=Go%21)
