Hi,

hosting a lan in a week for the first time, need a bit of advice.

the games that are gonna be played are CSS and COD the minmum requirements are about PIII 700mhz 128mb RAM.

I have a AMD athlon 64bit 3400+ with 512mb ram runs fin but i also want to use it as a server for 5-6 OTHER computers and play on it at the same time. I want to kno if theres any tips/advice people can give me cause im a bit worried. all computers will be XP connected to a router.

Any help would be nice :P

im sure it will be fine, LAN is 100mbps,
i can an online server with T1 and host quite a few ppl with minimal lag, and thats only 1.5mbps, on a 2.8,512mb ram

You could also consider borrowing another computer, and use it as a low power server.

best Processor or highest Memory best for running servers?

depends what you have,
Something with a lowish processor (prolly about 1.3Ghz +++) would be fine, providing that it had a fair chunk of ram, otherwise anything with a high processor (2Ghz or above) and about 256Mb RAM should be fine for hosting a low range server.
