I like firefox, but it crashes for me about half of the time when I view pdf files. Not sure why.

hi mate, this happened to me too. if you view the task manager...acrobat processes it is still running, even if no pdf file is viewed. Kill the process and it work completely fine... only with acrobat v.7

I've been running Firefox since Firebird 0.5 and can't recall it ever crashing or misbehaving in any way. :p

Does the media file show any problems in another viewer ? ?
