Having trouble upgrading from windows 98 to windows ME. When windows start to load I get this error message: The following file is missing or corrupted; C:Windows\System\Vmm32.vxd
Type the name of the windowa loader (e.g., C:\Windows\System\Vmm32.vxd
Then I get on the next line C:\<

What do I do now or how can I unstall Windows ME without the use of a mouse

Hello and welcome to techspot :wave:
i dont know how much this is going to help but from what i know these VXD files belong to update files and it seems the copy procedure didnt go well or there might be some problem with the file on disk. what u can try is finding this file on the ME disk and replacing it this might a lonf draw but might help.

the easier way is to create a boot disk and install windows ME/98 from scratch. without formating this will onlyh replace the windows.

This is not an upgrade. Don't waste your time.
