Solaris 9 and Western Digital drive compatible?

Hello, I hope I am posting in the correct forum. I apologize if I am not.

Our company needs to get a Solaris 9 machine up and running. We have one person who has installed Solaris 9 a few times and thats about it when it comes to expertise. When we try to install the OS we get the following errors:

WARNING: ata_controller - Set features failed
BUSY set : Hence returning error status d0, error d0
WARNING: timeout: reset target chno = 0 targ = 0

The install never starts up. I read somewhere that Solaris do not like to run on Western Digital drives. That's what is in this machine. A 200gig one. Is this correct? Solaris really doesn't like Western Digital harddrives?

Any reason you don't try Solaris 10 instead?

I have no idea if it will work though, as the only thing I've found that was remotely connected to your problem was a problem with Solaris 8 and harddrives larger than 137GB, but this is working on the solaris 9 & 10 x86 versions. If you are trying to do this on the sparc architecture however, you've got a problem..

is this a new system?
has this drive EVER been configured for THIS box?

Unix systems typically have SCSI drives, but regardless
some systems have issues with HD capacity greater than 120GB.
If there's nothing on the disk of value, repartition for Unix;
120gb root
1gb /tmp {don't let /root fill-up with junk }
*s* swp {2x memory size swap partition}
*l* /share leftover capacity to be mounted as /user/share
where lots of stuff gets installed or used by NFS
