Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Would you please take a few moments to read this post. A message for all newcomers. (http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic17182.html) Thanks.

When did the problem first start?

Try uninstalling, then re-installing the programme. It might solve your problem.

Has the programme ever run correctly?

Which version of the programme are you trying to use?

Here are the system requirements for Aim 5.9.

# Free AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) account and software
# Windows: Pentium processor running Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
# Mac: PPC running OS X.1 (or later) -OR- OS 9 with CarbonLib 1.3.1 (or later)
# 128MB RAM
# 20MB of free hard drive space (40MB of temporary space for the installation)
# 56.6 modem
# Internet connection that allows full Internet usage (not just a free email service)
# 800x600 resolution, 256 colors or more
# Full duplex sound card

The ammount of ram you have in your system might be a problem. Can you put in some more ram?

Did your friend format your hard drive, or simply reinstall Windows?

Regards Howard :)

I formated the drive but did not have the proper 98 disk so he installed it for me. Asuming that the ram is the problem can you suggest another good version of aim to use.

Look HERE (http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=aim) for all the versions of AIM.

Pick the one you want, and then check out the system requirements.
