Connecting my usb 2.0 flash drive (256mb) causes my computer to reboot

AAAARRRGH!!!!....connecting my usb 2.0 flash drive (256mb) causes my computer to reboot (windows xp pro)...connecting other devices to the same usb port is fine...connecting the usb flash to another computer works perfectly...any suggestions anyone?...

have you installed the correct drivers for your usb controller?

The driver is for windows 98...no driver was needed for the other computer I used...

mmmm...not sure I know what you mean by usb 'controller'...
