Cannot view My Pictures.........Please Help!

Hello everyone - please can you help me.

When I enter My Pictures all my thumbnails are there - usually they show the photo itself - but now it's showing a plain thumbnail - when I click on the thumbnails nothing happens.

If I "Open With" Paint or Paintshop Pro I can view the photos - I just can't view normally.

I can't use System Restore to restore them as I have it permenantely off due to many virus attacks in the past.

If anyone has got some advice I'd be eternally grateful. Thanks.

A quick guess based on the ongoing events on the internet: did you install the unofficial patch for the new windows vulnerability and unregistered a .dll along with it? If so, re-register that .dll file.

No I haven't used that patch but I did do a disk cleanup and I used registry mechanic before it happened - would that have something to do with it?
