Any suggestions on what to replace my lexmark X6100 with?

For Christmas my sister convinced my mother to get me a Lexmark X6100 -- stupid me-- I promptly handed over to my brother the printer I was using (that I had no problems with whatsoever) and finally yesterday proceeded to tear apart my office to make room for this lexmark equipment and after all the hooking up . . . guess what ? I guess I'm having the same problems everyone else is ... it just doesn't work and I've wasted enough time on it -- I read where it was suggested to take it back -- which is what I'm going to do this AM---any suggestions on what to replace it with?

Canon printers are very reliable, and the ink cartridges won`t cost you an arm or a leg either.
