This bridge is 1 of 2 swinging bridges near my parents house in rural Missouri. To be more specific, this bridge is spanning a very south eastern part of Lake of the Ozarks near Brumley.

I took it with a crappy HP Photosmart 733 (3.2MP). There was no retouching of the photo other than just the conversion to black and white and shrunk 50% in size.

A long time ago I created a thread for people to post some of their favorite pictures that they took, feel free to add yours again in this thread, and I can edit the title of this if you guys want to start adding your own.

Great pic SNGX1275.

I really like it in black & white. It makes the shot very moody.

Here`s a couple of my favourite pics.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b132/howard_hopkinson/wasp3_filtered.jpg

I took this wasp photo using the super macro mode of my Fuji Finepix s7000 camera.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b132/howard_hopkinson/scenery2.jpg

This is a shot taken about 100 yards from my home. It was a beautiful summers day.

Since it's show and tell ... here's one I took today. Unfortunately I don't have a macro lens for this camera yet..
but it didn't come out too shabby considering it was handheld and using a long lens on auto mode. I just grabbed my camera
and shot on auto in case he scuttered off ..so they weren't the best settings for the situ.

He's a Praying Mantis... for anyone who wondered why he isn't green, we live in the desert and they change with the environment.
SORRY... IMAGE REMOVED my bad

For whatever reason I can`t seem to see your pic.

That`s a shame, because I`m into insect photography, and was looking forward to seeing it.

Can you upload the pic again?

It's a Canon 10D and yeah sorry bout the protection .. it's habit since I use a lot of forums and photo libraries etc and we all know
people like to help themselves at times .. or is image protection not allowed on here? if so I'll delete it.. I guess I shoulda checked,
I know a few forums don't allow it.

I'm a bit distracted today but oughta read the guidelines a bit more before I post huh

I don`t know what website you use for photo hosting, but I use Photobucket.

I find it to be very good, and it`s free.

Thanks.. I have my own hosting for all of my sites so I just use that, it comes with a buttload of space and bandwidth which is great when
you host your own galleries. A lot of the guys on one of my other forums use photobucket.. I hear it's good, I just don't have a need for external
image hosts :)

I see what you mean.

Are you into insect photography in particular, or do you just shoot whatever takes your fancy?

I used to be into 35mm slr`s, but always had the problem of not knowing whether a photo was any good or not, untill I got the slides/photo`s back.

The early days of digital photography was quite frankly crap.

The capabilities of digital photography now, has made photography, both easy, and fun again. With possibilities, that I could only have dreamed of, a few years ago.

Regards Howard :)

It varies... circumstances dictate my photography a lot. I used to do a lot of portrait photography when I was still living in the UK and had all of my friends to borrow for models..Now I am in the US I have less social contacts so that is more restricted. I pretty much just take pics of whatever I feel like at any given time..cars, people, scenery, animals. My ex used to call me the japanese tourist because I always take my camera with me when I go out LOL

My gallery has a lot of car/auto pics.. classics, customs, racing.. whatever grabs my attention... but it's barely touching on the amount I have on my drive.

One thing I really got into lately was lightning pics... I have one or two that I really like a lot and was lucky enough to catch a perfectly timed burst right over some local casinos... so that made a nice shot.

and yeah I remember the old days .. I started off with a Mavica way back when.

I've beem taking a lot of just general photography pics. With nothing special in mind.

Most of them don't turn out well, but some do, and those are the ones I really like.

The color wasn't any good, thats why I switched it to black and white. It was about sunset time, but there were too grey of skies for the nice sunset colors, the wood on the bridge is made up of new and old boards so they looked bad, and the trees were just grey anyway :)

That is a nice picture. How come you didn't tag it as img?

I just tested it an it is linkable as img. Were you concerned about bandwidth?

Howard, that is a pretty awesome wasp picture. Really like the way the colors on the wasp and leaves stand out.

SNG: I tried numerous times to upload with the TS att., but it wouldn't take; I tried on photobucket, but their site was down, so I just used flickr. I'll try phtobucket again, but I don't know why I can't get TS attachments to work. Try this- <img src="http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d159/hewybo/Jansunset006.jpg" alt="Image hosting by Photobucket">
Also, my Mom used to work at Sandia Labs, and she said they hired 6 or 7 guys from the "UofMOatRo!"

You just need to use {img}http://www.wherever.com/yourpicture.jpg{/img}
But instead use [ ] in place of { }

I did it in my quote of you above.

Also, have her hire me, my contract expires at the end of May, and I may not have this job anymore. New chancellor is merging departments, ours may disappear.

Well, SNG- Mom retired about 27 years ago, so I'm afraid she can't help ya. Hope your chancellor realizes what a jewel you are! :slurp: Tried your link- can't make it work. Told ya I was dumb! :monkey:

Heh, that is by far the closest anyone has lived to me on these forums, that I know of. Aside from Poertner_1274, because we went to college together.

There is another swinging bridge right by that one as I'm sure you know, but the pics I took of it turned out pretty ugly (the bridge is a big part of that, it doesn't look cool) so I didn't upload them.
