Virginia residents expected to claim and pay taxes on internet purchases

The state tax code doesn't offer many giggles, but one provision is a real hoot. It requires Virginians, when filing their state returns, to declare and pay taxes on purchases made from catalogs and over the Internet that weren't taxed at the time of sale.

We have to do that here as well. I have mentioned it before. It is covered under something called the Consumer Use Tax which covers anything that is taxable that is purchased outside of the state, whether you go there to buy it, use the Internet, or a catalog.

Hmm..tax again..same old story...this ain't good for the e-retailers.
