I finally had to stop using quicken 2004 because the computer kept crashing when looking for an mrtrate.dll file. There is no way to turn off background updating in the 2004 version of quicken unlike other versions. I have scoured the internet looking for solutions and alas- found none.

I'm trying microsft money 2006. So far, things appear to be ok.
