Game crashess

ok i hope some1 can help me out here before i break this computer just bought a brand new pc

amd 64 3200+
1 gig memory
160 gig hard drive
ge force asus 6600 gt pci 256

when I open a game after several minute of playiing example nba 06 , Cs S my computer get a black screen and I hear the last sound freeze and my computer still workin but cant do anything on it not even ctrl alt del ...
I know that the problem is not the power supply just bought new 1 400 watts
I dunno about the card because its been 2 computer I tried on and its does the same thing but the last computer I was able to play a couple game with no problems but now it is ridiculus .

I'm pretty sure it's a basic overheating problem. What kind of case cooling do you have? Are you using the stock AMD cooler as well?

Easiest thing to do is remove the side panel and put a table fan blowing right into the case. I bet you can play for hours after that.

If you tell me the temps are ok, I'm going to say;" what kind of PSU 400W is it?". A crappy no name 400W will give you 280Watts steady-state. Your 3200 is pulling 80-90W of power and the 6600GT will pull at least 50W. Then you have the HDD and CPU fan, maybe a case fan or two (hopefully) and it all starts to add up to 280W pretty fast!.

well I bought it at future shop it is a dynex 400 power supply

how can i check the temperature of my cpu not use to those computer :(

just for other purchases mikey, I'd look at other stores than futureshop. I find their prices on computer components really bad. If you're around toronto anywhere, look for a Canada computers, otherwise try your local computer store.

I've used this example before but my graphics card costs $320 at futureshop and $169.99 after a $40 rebate at canada computers.

Dynex are no good, it's one of those no name brand "crappytire" kind.
Look for an Antec, OCZ, or Thermaltak PSU in the 450W or higher range.

For your temperatures, dwnload a freeware prog called Everest (google for it), it will show you all your temps and voltages. Like I said in my 1st post, just take the side off and put a fan on it. If it stops hanging when gaming you know it was temperature.
