Where- what is the aC97 midi driver?

I think the driver is somewhere in the driver folder in the system32 folder,, BUT which one is it??? I need to send midi files to it.

Go to the Sounds and Audio control panel/Audio/MIDI playback and check that your sound card is selected.If that doesn`t work,select one of the other choices.If that doesn`t work get a soundcard that supports MIDI.There`s also a software synth called Wingroove,but hardware solutions are better.

AC97 normally has no MIDI. You might have a kind of fake MPU-401 device outputting thru the joystick port or only Windows' software synthesizer.
