I am going to wipe a drive with Win 2K on it and install Win XP. When I do this, I not only want to f-disk, but change the HDD back to all 0's like it is new. Anyone know which products do this?

Someone told me to start it when I go to bed and it SHOULD be done when I wake up.. does it really take that long? Spike 03-31-2006, 05:42 PM Yes. It should take about 3 or 4 hours on an 80GB ide disk in a reasonable system. It takes a while. Jimbo420 03-31-2006, 07:57 PM Think of it this way. It is basically the eqivalent of writing an 80GB file to your heard drive. Every single bit has to be written. Or I guess in this case rewritten. That is a lot of data to deal with. |
