I dont care about the data on it.. But I do not have the password. Is there a boot cd that can be used to clear out this hard drive? Erasing all data on disc and clearing out the password on it? Or is this password so much of a pain that the only fix is to replace the hard drive or be lucky enough for this Rustam fella to help a mute comper noob out..? Btw Rustam whoever you are if you help me out.. thanks in advance, anything you ever need from me let me know. giorgi 08-28-2006, 04:13 AM rustam please help me if you can i have Dell Latitude D610 #3WDV42J-595B; Express Service Code: 84-885-512-59. I am not very computer savy and was able to do it without any troubles. I got the info from here http://homepage.ntlworld.com/judslat/paragon/ and it worked like a charm. Thanks paragon and whoever wrote it!! I still need help with the hard drive if rustam is willing. giorgi 08-28-2006, 05:55 AM hello giorgi, there is another way to do it but you have to open the computer up... from what i've read there is no public generator for any 595B setups. Thanks go to Paragon for that link I got it from him on this same topic. Just thought pointing it out might be of some assistance. Anyways I am in same position as you just fix'd the laptop yesterday but I got hdd issue. The only solution for the HDD is to replace it OR aparently there is a guy here by the name of Rustam (not sure on the spelling i mean no offense if i spelled it wrong i also suffer from insomnia and haven't slept at all) who might help us out. golfman 08-28-2006, 07:59 PM Hi Ididmyc600, I'm wondering what the difference is between a primary and admin password. The ebayer I bought my laptop from gave me the admin password but didn't know the primary password. Will I need rustam to recreate a primary password or is it the same as the admin password? The HD isn't password protected (which is strange - I thought that would be the only thing that's worth protecting!). So yes I can use my laptop but I really hate not being able to change the bios settings (is that all the primary password does?). Thanks for such great info. and heh, this old Dell latitude C800 rocks! It's 15" screen displays up to 1600x1200 - I'm amazed - I've never owned a monitor (CRT or LCD) that's ever been able to do that resolution and now I have a bonky old laptop that does it! Kewl!!!! I needed a laptop for school, and I got one from ebay. My sister neede a laptop in a hurry, so I gave here mine, when i found another c610 on ebay. Unfortunately this one has a password on the configuration, and I can't make changes to it. If what I hear of you is true, and you have the time i hope my story rates some help. Either try to crack the password by entering some default password codes, like 12345 or admin, something to that effect... or you'll need to crack the thing open and reset the jumpers on the motherboard to reset the BIOS. Or, flash your BIOS and update it, but I'm not sure if you would need the password to do that, but I doubt it. The service tag is DXGXM0J-595B Express service code is 303-219-962-11 I could make up an interesting story, but I'll give you the truth: I bought the laptop on ebay from a company that refurbishes old laptops. It came with the system password, which allows me to access it and use it. However, I would like to make some changes to the BIOS (enable Infra-red, boot order etc) and this is locked by the admin password. I hope you can help me Thanks Crisp BigFatRatt 08-30-2006, 08:22 PM Is rustam_ still a member here? I dont see the eprom chip tho, and the motherboard is incased in some sort of aluminum junk. god its very frustrating.. i have no idea where its at.. anyone thats fixed a c510/c610 (is it the same? i dont know thats what it says on the bottom of the case.. ) i would really appreciate the location of the chip.. it says under the pcmcia slots but like i said i cant not take this incasing off whatsoever.. i can only try n pry it off.. any ideas? You cannot reset a password on a DELL system by jumpers, batteries or flashing the BIOS etc. The only method is with a code generator or by shorting the EEPROM as discussed here and in several other threads on TS Forum. Please dont post this again as it just causes confusion for those who read it. And yes I do know what I am talking about, I have been doing this for nearly a year now and run a website (found below). I am not authorized to make eBay purchases, so I can't get the $13 .pdf. If someone could instruct me as to how I can remove the password, please let me know. I have 50 of these, and a couple with no passwords, and they work great! Once you figure out exactly where the little 8-pin chip is located on a particular model, you could just drill holes in the bottom of the laptops and not even bother with taking them apart to get to the right pins. sQbanieTZ 09-01-2006, 11:05 AM Hi! My name is Lukasz Hanik and I'm from Poland. Recently I've got notebook (Dell Latitude D610) from my company to work at home. I've a wifi network with neighbours and I'd like to connect this machine to network via 802.11g. But there is disabled wirelless card in the BIOS and there is also password preventing changes in BIOS. I called Dell Poland today but the want 35$ for unlock access to BIOS. I've tried to use Paragon33's method but have no access to other boot device except HDD. And I can't make HDD bootable cause there are applications and data from my company which I can't just erase by formatting drive. So could You help me with this problem? I would be grateful...
