Hello. I am Özgür from Turkey.
A few months ago I found a good enough laptop for me on the Turkish Ebay (gittigidiyor.com). It was a Dell Latitude C610, a Romanian guy was selling it.
I contacted him, he said that it has no problem and it is running well. So I believed and bought it. When I opened the laptop, a gray screen occured with a "protected by a password" message!
It has a BIOS password!! I sent him a message on the website. He didn't reply it. Later I phoned him, he said that he has no responsibility on that.
I called Turkish DELL but nothing changed. They asked too many questions about the owner and I was not the 1st owner of the laptop. I tried a lot of web forums, IRC channels...etc.. but nope..couldn't solve the problem..
I saw the 'paperclip' method but I couldn't dare to disassemble the laptop..
It seems the TechSpot forum is my last hope...

The service tag is:
#15PK984-595B

Could you please give me the password for the service tag above?

Many Thanks,
Best wishes..

Rustam,
It appears you are the master in this situation, after reading the threads on this similar issue.
I have a dell Inspiron 1100 that all of the sudden decides to not to work as soon as the warranty expired.
Needless to say the laptop goes as far as the message screen indicating it is protected by a password authenication system. To which I have no idea what the hell the password required is.
And the Dell support was no help.
Please shed some light. This is what seems to be as you refer to as the service tag #2QWVT31-A95B

Thank you in advance!!

Hi Rustam

I hate to trouble this, but I see that you help other people with the same problem

My son got a Dell Inspiron 8000 from his aunt. But she don’t have the password cause she got it from a colleague that have already move to Toronto.

Now when we turn on the laptop a gray screen comes on and ask to enter the password.

This computer system, #74T7S01-595B, is protected by a
Password authentication system. You cannot access the data
On this compute without the correct password.

Please type in the primary or administrator password and press Enter.

I have try all sorts of password and nothing work.

Hope you have a master password that work.

The Service Tag is74T7S01
Express Service Code 15528415801

I have already try to short the 4 & 6 pin chip 24c02 under the CD drive also I have try to ground the 5 pin on the same chip. That did not work for me at all.

Hope you can do your magic.

Thanks

that's strange that removing the battery would not take the password off and reset all the settings. make sure that when you remove it... that you don't have the computer plugged in.... since the point would be to remove all power... to me.. i think that's the easiest solution....

This has been cussed and discussed several Times on this forum. That will not work on most Dells as the Passwords and Service Tag are stored on a separate EEProm Chip in its NVRAM and not on the BIOS chip. The only 2 models I know of where that will work are the latitudes LS and L-400.

hey-
I saw in previous posts that you could manage to help people out w/ a master password for a HD password that will not allow me to access the data on my HDD. I'm actually attempted to backup data for a client of mine, and of course he is out of the country w/o any cell phone or means of contact. I cannot backup his data unless this password is pushed aside. If you could please help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated.

If the harddrive is first in the boot order, use the F12 onetime bootorder to override it. The DST software deletes the Service Tag, but immediately prompts you to reset and verify it before you reboot! You can also pull the HDD out to keep it from interfering with your booting from peripheal drives into DOS if the one time boot order does not work. If the peripheal drives are also disabled, use the DOS only bootable Harddrive method with a spare HDD. I doubt that rustam will help you since you are jacking around with your company's laptop.

Can anyone please help me? I recently purchased a used Dell Latitude D610 that's locked.
I checked it out with Dell and they told me that it wasn't stolen, but they wouldn't tell me anything else. I might be crazy but it felt like he was lookin at the password while he was tellin me that he couldn't help me!
I've spent hours searching for any solutions. I even found an old post on TechSpot, pobably from the same jerk that sold me the laptop. Same service tag, same express code. Basically, I just dont have enough brains or guts to open it up. I really would appreciate any advice or ideas!

I recently purchased a XPS M140 for my nephew on the dreaded ebay. It was a great price and now I know why. I too have fallen victim to the masterpassword saga. I contacted Dell but they were of very little help. (NONE) I have read all the strings they have steered me in some directions but I keep hitting deadends. I get the white screen, and it tells me the computer system, #3FCJ491-595B, is protected by P.A.S. I am ready to chunk this thing or atleat get some satisfaction by driving over it with my jeep. There are a few threads in here, most of which I have had a lot of input on, The only way past the screen is to reset the EEPROM and clear the service tag, then use the DST software to replace the service tag.

Full instructions can be found on the site I run, the link is in my tag below.

If you have any questions regarding the site you can PM me or email me, however I may be off line due to ISP issues for the next few days, however my site has an address of a friend called paragon33 who providing he isnt on one of his road trips can also help.

Figured this was worth a try...I have a Dell Inspiron 7500 I'm working on for a friend (I'm getting another laptop out of the deal, among other things, so its worth the trouble) that is having a password issue similar to what others have posted about, with one minor difference. After the bios boots (or when you go into the bios from the Dell boot screen) it asks for a password, but gives none of the info like service tag or etc. The tag on the dell sticker is YB5F8 and the express service code is 576-271-88. I've tried the boot disk that is supposed to change the service tag and wipe the pass, but it will not boot to the disk before the password comes up...any ideas?

The password system on these older Inspirons is not Service Tag oriented and the DST software will not work on those to reset the Service Tag; however, the Service Tag seems to be only a paper issue anyways on those. You can still find the EEProm Chip and short it to remove the Passwords however.

Well I found this site through extensive searching to find how to make a Dell Latitude CPI useful again. My son took it in trade and now we find he got the worse end of the deal with his so called friend. Anyway, you guessed it, Admin password locked. I found the program Latitude.exe and Latitude Master PW but all the passwords they give do not work. I do not know if I did it right or used the correct numbers or letters. Its service tag has five letters in one place (WPRNW) and sets of numbers in another (549-499-64). I also read that the tag no is on the door of the docking station port so I tried that too (53938) but to no avail.
It is a nice condition laptop and I would like my son to be able to use it for college but If no one can help I guess it will make a nice paper weigh for his exam papers.
I heard about shortning out some chip but you have to tear down the laptop and that is way to technical for me.
I hope their is a way, but from what I read lately, it is a useless cause.
Thanks all and Mr. Rustam for your ear.

WPRNW is the Service Tag. On the Grey/white screen, does it show as WPRNW**-D35B or WPRNW**-595B? If it is the first, then Latitude Master_PW v.2.20 should work to give you a master password. If it is the latter, then you need rustam's help.

Hi I hope someone can help me! I am working as a computer network technician for the military in Izmir, Turkey and I am trying to rebuild this DELL laptop. hi i have an inspiron 8600 and am getting the grey screen of death from dell. i need the administrator password.

SERVICE TAG - 904BS51
EXPRESS SERVICE CODE - 19598309173

it says when it boots up the following string...

#904BS51-595B

i'd also like to take this time to express my disgust with dell. i call support to try and get this password. i have no idea if there are other issues with this laptop as it was a gift from the previous owner. all i want is to get this password so i can boot the machine and self-diagnose any other hardware issues. when i called support, they told me A) they couldn't help me on sundays because that dept is closed, B) that it would cost $39.99 to retreive said password, because they would also help troubleshooting (of which i need no help, if there is an issue, i'm not going to keep this thing!). so basically they're mroe or less extorting customers $39.99 to see if there's any issue with their laptop that they have already previously paid for.
