Are there any tweaks on how to make XP behave more like Linux?

I like using Linux because of its speed, but due to compatibility issues with my wireless card and other things, I cannot use it as the main OS. I am trying to get XP up to the same speed as Linux, but for it to retain the same compatibility with games. This may be impossible, but it is nice to dream...

So, does anyone know what the basics of the linux kernel are in terms of how it runs?
