Umm ok i got Quake 4 today and installed it...no problems


went to run....Splash screen>>black screen>>bumped back to desktop


i read on foums that it might be sound related so i disabled my sound and ran the game..it worked so i know its sound related.

i clean sweeped all my drivers like creative told me too and reinstalled the newest ones ( beware i do have SB Extigy)

i ran the game again and it still crashes...is this maybe my soundcard being old and rubbish

plz help

It could be incompatible with Quake, if you've exausted all your options. See if theres a workaround or patch available for quake, or maybe a command line addition to the Quake's shortcut to skip audio testing..

Thanks N3 i got the new 1.3 patch and now the game works with sound
