Need help in figuring out how to edit the layers for find the layers window to work on dds file layers seperately.

Sorry, I write for a living so my sentences can be imbiguous. I got the editing part done, but I have no idea how to have the tes4 construction set for oblivion use my changes or tell it how to use them. Still uses the old ones, am not sure what to change in order to use what I made or altered even to test to see if the ones I did change, work or not.
