movie factory 3.0 to movie factory 5.0 upgrade problems.

I upgraded from movie factory 3.0 to movie factory 5.0. The program will not read my DVD's. When I go to burn a disk it reads the DVD as a CD-R. I have tried three different kinds of DVD's and they have all had the same results. It reads and plays and records DVD's in other programs but I need Movie Factory to create slide shows and I can not burn them. Is it something with my drives, and what do I need to do to fix it? I would appriciate any help I can get here.

I have a Dell Computer with a pantium M
run Windows XP
and have a sony DVD+RW DW-Q58A drive.
