I am running Windows XP. When I run Mcafee virus scan, I am getting an error mghtml.exe with a reference to OX7470b439. If I reboot, sometimes I can get the virus scan to run. I have reinstalled the antivirus twice. The computer is freezing and sometimes will not shut off unless you use the off button.

The system restore does not work.

Any help would be appreciated.

I suggest you completely uninstall McAfee and try different antivirus and firewall programmes.

Some suggestions for Antivirus/firewall programmes can be found HERE (http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic58138.html).

Run a full system scan with the new antivirus and delete whatever it finds(if anything). Make sure you have the latest updates.

Then see if you still have problems.

I found information on Mcafee.com It said to delete the temporary internet files including the offline files. I did that and now the computer appears to be OK.

I did not try to restore yet. I will wait a few days and see if I canr restore back to a prior day.
