Converting media files

Hi. I hope that I'm posting this in the right section. I am having difficulty importing media files into Windows Movie Maker as well as Corel R.A.V.E. The files are from a mini dvd-r disc from a camcorder and are in the format .BUP. Apparently, this is not a recognozied file type for either of the two movie making softwares I need to use. So, my question is, how do I convert these files into something usable, and what is the format I should be converting them into?

Thanks in advance.

You might try this thing that I found: iTinySoft Total Video Converter (http://www.effectmatrix.com/).
hope this helps

I downloaded and tried that converter, and didn't have any luck. Whenever I try to convert the .bup files, it just opens up the my desktop folder. Is there something I am doing wrong? Also, what should I be converting the .bup files to?

I guess you could get WinAVI from winavi.com (http://www.winavi.com/). After the evaluation period is up, though, you need to pay for it.
