i just bought quake 4 and what do you know i have a problem... ok so i load the game and everythings fine and then i try to connect to a server and i get this error message

and then the game shuts down. what do i do?

system:

graphics card: ATI radeon x1600 pro

processor: AMD Athlon 64 x2

Sound Card: Realtek 5.1bit sound card

memory: i dont think it matters

any help would be greatly appreciated.

make sure you have the latest graphics drivers installed, and that the game is fully up to date. if the problem persists, try playing for a bit and turn down the eye candy (shadows, volumetric lights, dynamic lighting, etc)
