Codec problems...?

Hello,

I'd like to thank in advance for any responses I get to this thread.

I seem to be having a problem with playing video in my codec. I am currently running the latest version of Winamp, and I cannot see the video of a number of movies that I download from a peer to peer program, like Ares. The sound is fine, however. I tried using DivX, but that didn't work.

Does anyone have any theories or know why? How can I solve this problem?

Thanks,
Minus

There is a free program called gspot (might want to google gspot and codec at the same time rather than just gspot...) and it will tell you what the video is encoded with. Then you can try and find that specific codec.

Or you could download the new xvid and install that, it also will handle divx.

Or you could download and install VLC and just use that, it will open the video.
