Itunes not showing Ipod?

This is a very strange problem, dont know why this would happen but i connect my ipod (5th Generation (30GB)), and windows picks it up, in 'my computer' you can see that my ipod has connected via E:\ drive.

But in iTunes it will not show my ipod in the source bar, it doesnt connect therefore i cannot update it through iTunes and transfer any music etc. onto it.

I have tried re-installing iTunes, and that didnt do anything!

Any Help appreciated,
Tom Wells-Day

This may not be your problem, but Windows Vista has plenty of problems iTunes at the moment. If you're using XP or less, you can ignore this.

If you can provide more details about your system such as operating system, service pack, iTunes version... etc.. it might be useful for others. :)

And of course, download and install the latest version from Apple's website.

Yeah i have tried that although i will try it again, after leaving it connected for 5 - 10 mins it does connect, but wont update, it connected yesterday but for some reason didnt transfer any of my videos? or games just music.

And only sometimes when i connect it and leave it for 5 - 10 mins will it connect to iTunes, its only happened twice.
