Yo im thinking about bying a new case for what im going to work on. Do i have to be specific about which case to get? and could i just switch everything to one case to another without having to buy new hardware?

Probably, but make sure your motherboard fits in the new case you're getting.

more than likely you're using atx or btx. I would recommend at least 2 fans, one intake and one outake, the more the merrier. if you want quiet fans get 120mm fans
