when i power up, the toshiba logo comes on the screen, then black screen w cursor. the only action that makes a difference is ctrl,alt,del, and back to the same prob.please help?, thanks mike

1/ Does the HDD make a clicking noise. Hold the laptop up near your ear. If you here a clicking sound the HDD is hosed. You'll need to replace it.

2/ Next remove the battery.. Then try booting it up with out it.. If that works then the battery is bad and needs to be replaced.

3/ Go into the BIOS and change the order of boot, too CD-Rom, HDD, USB, Network.
