To turn off the widescreen

Hi all!
Maybe an odd question, but is there any way to "turn off" a part of the screen. I bought a widescreen TFT screen and have, due to lack of a proper G-card, experienced some problems during gaming. Older games without a widescreen resolution option is also a finger in the eye!
All ideas are greatfully received.

Look in the settings of your display adapter, you should find some settings pertaining to flat panels. Set it to centered output & see if that's what you're looking for.

ps. on the attached image, the red dot is what you're looking for.

*edit* thought I had attached an image, guess I didn't. :p
