Hello to you all,

I have a problem with my computer.
It doesn't show anything on my display. It shows only a black screen.
I changed the PSU with another of 400W same problem. I also changed the memory ( I have 1x512 M), I checked the video adapter ( is a GeForce 6600 of 256M/128 bits).
I try it on 2 other computers but I don't know what to think. On the first all was all right and on the other, same problem as mine.

The spec of my computer:

AMD BARTON 2600+
MB ASUS VT880
512 M RAM
HDD-160 GB ATA 133
GeFORCE 6600 256M/128 bits on AGP slot
OS WINDOWX XP SP2

Any suggestions, please? Help?

If it is a flat panel screen, the system board has likely failed.
Otherwise, a failed video card would be a good guess.
Try the monitor on a friend's computer. Try the friend's monitor on your computer. These two tests will weed out most guesses.

HELLO RAYBAY

I already tried this. It was the first thing I have done. But my question is how on Earth is possible that my video adapter to work on another system and not to work in another. The system in which the video adapter worked it was a Pentium III.

That is the question. A question very annoying.

Thanks

Video adapters are strange beasts. Some are 4x, 8x and so on... and will not work in the motherboard that is not designed for the specific video graphics type. The specs on the video card will tell, in general, what they fit, as do the motherboard specs indicate what they will accept.

Video adapter

My video adapter is an AGP 8X

You're right the video adapters are strange beasts. I agree with that.

Thanks
