Socket 462 mobile cpu replacement

I have a laptop that I am trying to replace the cpu. The design of this socket has no lever to lock the cpu in place. It is very difficult to slide the cpu towards the lock position after it is in the socket and I have not been able to do it yet.Does anybody have a workaround for this as I do not want to exert too much force on the cpu and socket and damage something.

So how did the previous CPU remain in position?

We had to originally pry it out of the socket to get it out although it is supposed to slide out. This is one of those crazy sockets.Even if you could get a flat tip screwdriver into the mechanism;I don't see how you could get this out of its socket.
