Hey

for some reason every time i goto watch a video on my computer, the video looks dark.

I go into nvidia control panel > Video/Television > Adjust

and Gamma keeps resetting itself to -8% instead of 9% i've applied it a heap of times, posted on nvidia forums but no luck.

My graphics card is: nvidia geforce 6800GS

why not just adjust your monitor brightness directly?

Cause it only affects videos. Nothing else
