I actually forgot my root password

It's been about 6 months since I've touched this machine. I set it up for a class I was doing online. I went to do the second part of the course today and realized I don't have a clue what the root password is. I'm guessing I'm out of luck and need to start over but if there is hope please let me know. It is fedora core 5. Thanks

Jesse

Boot to single-user mode and type passwd root at the command prompt.

You can get to single-user mode by adding 1 to the kernel parameters.

With GRUB, press E on the boot menu to edit the kernel line.

Thank you so much. You just saved me a couple of hours that I really don't have.

Thanks again

Jesse
