Following price cuts on its Mobile Pentium M processors on October 5, Intel will soon carry out more sweeping price reductions (http://www.digitimes.com/NewsShow/Article.asp?datePublish=2003/10/06&pages=A1&seq=2) to tackle growing demand for and increasing competition from Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) products.
The new price cuts are widely seen as timed to take on the 64-bit Athlon 64 processors rolled out by AMD in late September.
