hey can anyone give me the link for the graphic drivers for
"nVidia GeForce 6600" for Windows XP SP2(32bit) for PCI-Express Slot
and XFX is written on the fan...
behind is written GF 6600 128MB 128bit DDR TV DVI PCI-E
S/N is FIH138193
.
i checked the nVidia site and did an Advanced Driver Search and downloaded the drivers for 64bit and 32bit.
i downloaded only "6600" drivers, although there was "6600 GT" "6600 LE" "6600 VE"
.
btw...the 32bit says "Hasnt passed..." some test.
normally there should be a button "Continue Anyway". but it aint there.
and the drivers i downloaded was NVIDIA Recommended and WHQL Certified!
.
so please let me know what i'm doing wrong.

You don't need to go to advanced driver search. Just go to their drivers page and click what you have in those boxes. Don't get caught up in all the versions of cards, that doesn't matter. Don't get the 64bit drivers because you won't be able to use them.

You need this: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_162.18.html

Nah don't use the 162.18s for the 6600. My dad's PC had constant hangs with those and he also has a 6600. Download and install these (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_93.71.html) drivers instead.

was it one of these?

http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_162.18.html (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_162.18.html) for XP

http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_162.22.html (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_162.22.html) for vista 32bit

http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x64_162.22.html for Vista 64 bit

sometimes the WHQL only counts on some flavors of the video card line.

You can also get older drivers at http://downloads.guru3d.com/ that may work better for the older cards.

That driver Rage_3K_Moiz pointed at is just an older version (from November of 2006) of the current GeForce driver.

well... thanks for everyones advice but I found the problem when I stumbled upon driver signing.
.
In System Properties>Hardware>Driver Signing
by default, option "Block - Never install unsigned driver software" was selected.
I just had to change this option to "Warn - Prompt me each time to choose an action".
Now I get the option to "Continue Anyway".
.
but since the driver is WHQL Certified, why is it said to be an unsigned driver?

Tarkus said that the driver will not be certified for all the devices it operates.
