Maxtor 100 GB External Drive not reconized

I've read the other user suggestions and gone into manage and changed the cd drive to read M:

It shows up as 93 gig unallocated but it won't allow me to change the letter.

It shows it as basic Disk 1


I am running Windows XP Professional

Have you formated this drive yet? You should be able to in disk management (right click on drive) partion it than format.

As for showing only 92 gb that also is correct.
