nique80 11-18-2007, 06:34 AM I have this problem.. when i finished installed and wanna play it.. a message appear said:
"This application has failed to start because d3dx9_34.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix the problem".
I had reinstalled it several times and the problem still occur. My friend has the same problem too.
Does anyone knows how to solve this problem? Thank you in advance.
Tha General 11-18-2007, 12:19 PM It happen to me too, i think you need windowsXP or Vista. I am using windows98se, and i am able to have D3DX9_32.DLL, but not 34. I think 34 is for a higher OS.
Tmagic650 11-18-2007, 12:23 PM "I have this problem.. when i finished installed and wanna play it"...
You want to play what? This is a laptop. How much memory is installed in the system? Select Start, Run and enter "dxdiag" without the quotes. Tell us what you see
Tha General 11-18-2007, 09:02 PM I still dont see why people would want to play games on a laptop, seriously.
Tmagic650 11-19-2007, 12:06 AM I agree Tha General,
but some have only a laptop and no desktop. Maxing out the memory and updating video card drivers to the latest versions are the only realistic things that can be done to a laptop to improve gaming, and overall performance
thrower1 11-19-2007, 03:44 PM I had this problem too...and thought it was the cause of my computer crashing during games\graphic intensive programs. Turned out it was the voltage defaults for my ram...BIOS default was set to 1.8v and I had to manually change to 1.9v - stabilized computer for one card but still having trouble getting dual sli cards working.

Teranius 12-04-2007, 12:27 AM yeah, im playing it.
it's asking you where to extract the .exe file, so anywhere should be fine, even on your desktop
Kaleid 12-04-2007, 01:13 AM Yeah, I usually place it in C:\1 or something so that I don't leave it there once it has been installed. Nice that it does not require any reboots.
Even for vista you should download the latest dx9 updates.
nghh86 12-04-2007, 05:35 AM So...after i extract it...wat should i do ?
there got many version of directx rar folder...
Mictlantecuhtli 12-04-2007, 06:02 AM Run dxsetup.exe which should be in that directory.

U all noe y ?...wats the problem ? Pls tell & teach me ....thank u!
Teranius 12-06-2007, 12:32 AM Does it only restart when you enter the game?
code_puncher 12-06-2007, 10:04 AM ...oh god, this took me a while...
It's important to note that I'm using Vista Home Premium edition. I downloaded the DirectX 9c package (November_2007), and excitedly waited so that I could play Call of Duty 4. Needless to say, I ran into the same issue.
Here's what to do...
When it asks for an install location, choose a "temp" folder on C:\ .
Then, when it's finished installing to this "temp" location, go in and find the 'd3dx9_34.cab' file.
Double click, and open. Inside you'll find the d3dx9_34.dll file. Right click on the file and choose extract. A dialogue box will then ask you where you would like to extract it.
Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\en-US\ and extract away!
You don't even have to restart Vista. Just refresh the folder.
Hope this helps...by the way....this game freakin' rulz!
Tmagic650 12-06-2007, 10:06 AM You are using Vista. Vista uses DX10 not DX9...
code_puncher 12-06-2007, 10:17 AM oh, to the contrary...I'll send a screenshot if I need to...but, I'm using both.
...and they're quite compatible with one another.
DirectX 9 or 10 has nothing to do with the operating system. It has to do with how your GPU talks to the operating system.
Both work fine on Vista.
..thanks for the reply!
daviedaly 01-18-2008, 07:02 AM i have tried everything and its still not working!
after puting the file in C:\WINDOWS\system32\en-us and refreshing the folder it still gives the same msg when trying to run the game
ViperThunder 01-19-2008, 03:06 AM NOTICE TO ALL 64-BIT USERS::
In 64-bit versions of Windows, 64-bit dll's go into the SYSTEM32 folder. 32-bit dll's go into the SYSWOW64 folder. Make sure you are placing the 64-bit version and 32-bit version of d3dx9_34.dll in their correct respective places!
if you need more info, then send me an email viperthunderx at hotmailcom

drawz 05-05-2008, 08:17 PM misspost sorry
drawz 05-05-2008, 08:24 PM D3dx9= direct3d directx9,
_34 is the version
Try this, http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/directx.html
You simply need to get the file, and put it in the right place on your OS.
For vista it should go in C:\Windows\System32\en-US\ as code_puncher previously said, and this post pretty much sums up ever possible way to get the file where it needs to be for just about any OS. If your having trouble simply read the post.
This is backwards... do the opposite of that
